We had some time before our entry time into Hill Top. We saw a sign for cream teas which benefitted the restoration of the town hall where we had parked. We walked up the street where a sign pointed us to the front yard of a volunteer. There in the sun we ate our award winning (at the Herefordshire Fair Baking Competition) scones with jam and clotted cream. The sun is shining and we had our favorite English treat to eat. Perfect.

Back To The Car On Our Favorite Footpath |
 |
A Footpath Companion |
After our visit to Hill Top, we walked the lovely footpath back to the car and began a slow wander home. The views were just gorgeous. It is a region filled with mountains and lakes. The winding road kept a constantly changing panorama in front of us that had us exclaiming and sticking our cameras out the window. Everyone, that is, but Janet the driver who concentrated on avoiding scraping the side of the car on the ubiquitous stone walls and hedges - especially when the tour buses or farm equipment came barreling around the corner!

Love Those Built In Stone Steps! |
We so enjoyed our first foray onto the English footpath, when a parking spot for another footpath appeared on our side of the road, we pulled over and headed out. This time the topography had changed completely. Where our first path crossed a lush, green field surrounded by hills, this one was closer to the top of a hill. It crossed a heather bog through a sheep field. It was a different type of beautiful. We enjoyed the views and our sheep companions, though they were not too sure about us!

What A View! |

Aira Force Waterfall |
We met a couple in the car park who told us of a waterfall nearby. We had just enough time to see it before dark. We found the parking lot and headed down the hill. It was everything described. Really pretty. After the hike back up to the car and our hikes, we felt we had earned a good dinner. We backtracked to a recommended pub Carol Jean had found in her guide book, The Traveler's Rest. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at an outdoor table with a pint of Wagner's Cider and a pint of local beer. A great end to a wonderful day.
